Every month a Zurich expat hosts a book swap. Now, if you haven’t heard of it before you’re going to be excitedly signing up for the next one! When she got to Switzerland, she noticed the crazy prices of books here, especially English books, and so she created this fabulous monthly get together, where everyone brings a book or few that they’ve read and are willing to part with, then we grab a coffee and chat about books, life in Zurich, kids, schools and whatever topic comes up. Over the years, E’s regular book swaps have become a necessity for English-reading ladies who are not working, with many regular attendees. What I like about the swap is not just that I’m getting a free book but also get to speak to someone who has read it and will give me an honest opinion on it AND I get to make a few new friends along the way!
This month the book swap was kindly hosted by Pure Beauty Spa in the Seefeld area in Zurich. In the purple oasis we we treated to fresh juice, herbal teas and delicious coffee. It also gave us the chance to talk to the lovely owners about the products and services on offer.
